Image Description:
Scene: A doctor’s office. Characters: A doctor and a teenage girl. (The same girl I drew here). She has a white cane and glasses with bioptic telescopes in them.
Panel 1:
DOCTOR: Will you be my visual aid–I mean, guest at the Genetic Disorders Conference?
Panel 2:
GIRL: I’m not some whore you can parade out whenever you want.
Panel 3:
DOCTOR: What?! This is science! Ethics! And besides–
Panel 4:
DOCTOR: I made this sign! (He’s gesturing toward a sign. The sign reads, “Rarest syndrome ever!” in large letters).

Hahahahahahaha!!! Visual aids unite! Yeah, on the one hand, I’m glad that my doctors used my case at presentations because they were able to get input about possible treatment plans. However, having presented at conferences before, I’ve seen how genuinely delighted some researchers can be about finding the medical equivalent of the Dodo bird and getting the chance to brag about it to their colleagues. I just want to tell them, “Ya’ know, it isn’t exactly all that great for the person you’re speaking about so gleefully.”
